I am not a financial advisor. This is not financial advice. Cryptocurrencies are highly volatile and risky. You could lose your entire investment.

This is an easy step-by-step guide for a complete beginner. Start by signing up to Binance by clicking on this link here (affiliate link).

Step 1: Secure your account (Optional)

After you have logged in to your newly created Binance account I would recommend adding 2FA for extra security. Many people have fallen victim to hackers who have gained access to their account, so security is crucial.

Follow the instructions from the picture below after logging in:

  1. Click on the profile in the right hand corner.
  2. Click on security.
  1. Make sure you’re on the security tab on the left.
  2. Enable Google Authentication. Follow the instructions.

*If you don’t have the Google Authentication app you need to download it either on your phone or on your laptop first.

Step 2: Verify Identity

On Binance they have basic, intermediate and advanced verification. I would recommend having at least intermediate verification. You can deposit, purchase and withdraw a much larger amount of crypto with intermediate and advanced verification.

From the home screen:

  1. Click on profile in the upper right corner
  2. Click on Identification. Follow the simple instructions.

Step 3: Buy crypto

Buying crypto on Binance is easy. You can use both a debit/credit card or funding from your bank account.

From the home screen click on “Buy Now.”

Then choose the coin you wish to buy. You can either scroll down the list or use the search bar. Click on the coin.

Choose the currency of choice in the right hand corner. Then choose the fiat amount. Either use the filled in amounts on the bottom or put in the amount you wish manually. Click Continue.

If you wish to pay with a Visa or Mastercard you can press “add new card” and then follow the instructions.

If you wish to pay with a cash balance then you need to top up your account. Choose any of the three options below.

There is also a P2P option to the right.

Follow the instructions to make your crypto purchase.

Step 4: Send your crypto to an external wallet (Optional)

If you don’t want to keep your crypto on the exchange you can send it to an external wallet. You need to create an address before you send your crypto to the external wallet. I recommend getting a hardware wallet.

From the home screen, click on wallet on the top bar and then click on “Fiat and Spot.”

Find your coin in the list and then click on “withdraw.”

  1. Make sure it’s the correct coin.
  2. Fill in the address you’re sending to. Also, make sure that the correct network is selected, below the address. For some coins there could be several choices. Make sure to find out which network is correct. Follow the instructions.
